What We Mean When We Say "Weather Permitting"

The first, and most important, requirement for an observing session is clear skies. We are taking "clear skies" at this time to mean less than 50% cloud cover at sunset, in which case we will open the observatory approximately one-half hour later. The current status of this week's observing session will be updated on the Public Observing Page and can be confirmed by calling the observatory at (330) 672-9747. If you are calling on a Friday evening and receive no answer, it is a good bet that we are closed. The current weather conditions in Kent can be checked by consulting the weather channel page for this area, but remember that it is still by direct observation that we make our decision on whether to open.
