Finding the KSU/NASA Observatory

For those of you familiar with the KSU campus, we are located in the field behind the WKSU Broadcast Center near the satellite dishes. If not, see below for further instructions on how to find us.

Getting to Kent State University

If you are traveling from outside of Kent, there is an excellent set of directions on the Kent State University homepage .

Once on Campus (Starting from the Student Center)

  • Begin on East Summit Street, which runs east/west in front of the Student Center.

  • Proceed east on East Summit Street (toward the football stadium and away from the water towers) until you come to the intersection of East Summit Street and Loop Road.

  • Turn left (north) onto Loop Road. After you make the turn, the WKSU Broadcast Center will be immediately on your right.

  • Proceed approximately 200 yards on Loop Road, just past the WKSU Broadcast Center, until you reach a small service road leading to the right.

  • Turn onto this service road and, ignoring the sign about "Service Vehicles Only", proceed about 150 yards or so until you reach a small group of satellite dishes behind the WKSU studios. On the left, next to the satellite dishes will be a small driveway. If you look into the field behind the satellite dishes you will see the observatory.

  • Park in the driveway or along the side of the road, and walk up the driveway to the observatory.

  • If you get lost, call the observatory at (330) 672-9747, and we will do our best to guide you.
